Island Peak, also known as Imja Tse, is a mountain peak located in the Himalayas of Nepal. Part of the Sagarmatha National Park, it stands at an altitude of 6,189 meters (20,305 feet). As one of the most popular trekking destinations in the region, it has been climbed by thousands of people worldwide.
Island Peak is part of the south ridge of the Lhotse Shar Glacier and is surrounded by spectacular mountain scenery. Named for its resemblance to an island in a sea of ice, the peak offers a challenging climb requiring good physical fitness and proper acclimatization.
The trek to Island Peak is an adventure through beautiful scenery, passing through villages and taking up to 10 days. Starting at Lukla, the route follows the Dudh Kosi River to Namche Bazaar, Dingboche, Chhukung, and finally to the summit of Island Peak. The ascent is rewarding, with stunning views of the Himalayan mountains and an unforgettable experience.
